Desert Lantern Festival Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I’m worried about lighting the lanterns. Will it hurt the environment?
    1. Festival organizers work closely with the fire marshal, as well as state and local officials to ensure the safety of all event attendees. Desert Lantern Festival has received a permit for lighting and releasing lanterns. The lanterns used are 100% biodegradable, flame retardant and have a fuel cell that has a quicker burn time designed to fully burn out before returning to the Earth’s surface.
    2. Lanterns will not be released if weather conditions do not permit a release. Festival organizers work with the fire marshal to make sure weather conditions are safe before releasing the lanterns.

 

  1. What are the dates of the festival?
    1. Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th

 

  1. How much are tickets?
    1. Adults (12 years old and above): $35 in advance and $45 day of the event
      1. Ticket includes one lantern and one design pen
    2. Children (4 years – 11 years old): $15 in advance and $25 day of the event
      1. Ticket includes entry
    3. 3 years old and under are FREE
    4. Groups: 15 people or more receive a 10% discount when purchasing. Enter the promo code “GROUP” at checkout.

  1. What Can I bring with me?
    1. Folding chairs and blankets are welcome and encouraged.
    2. You may bring two (2) unopened bottles of water per person
    3. No coolers and no outside food
    4. Bags will be checked upon entry
    5. No weapons of any kind can be brought inside

 

  1. Are ATM’s available on site?
    1. Yes, we will have an ATM on site.  It is suggested to bring cash as there are areas that are CASH ONLY.

 

  1. What time does everything begin?
    1. Doors open at 3:00 pm each day
    2. Lantern lighting will take place around 7:00 pm each day, pending approval from the fire marshal
    3. Event closes at 9:00 pm each day

 

  1. What can we expect when we get out there?
    1. There will be things for the kids to do like bounce houses, pony rides, a petting zoo and facepainting
    2. Additional fees may apply
    3. More activities include Volleyball, corn hole, balloon twisting and Fairytale Princess meet and greets!
    4. Your favorite DJ’s from LIVE 101.5, 94.5 KOOL FM and KMLE Country 107.9 will be playing the best tunes all day/night
    5. Food will be available for purchase (including S’mores kits!)

 

  1. What does the lantern kit include?
    1. Lantern kit includes one 100% Biodegradable wire free lantern and one design pen

 

  1. Can I buy more lanterns?
    1. Absolutely! Extra lanterns are available for purchase at the merchandise tent.

 

  1. Can I bring my own lanterns?
    1. Outside lanterns are not permitted; this is for your safety and the environment’s safety.

 

  1. Parking

    2. Parking day of the event is $10 per vehicle.

 

  1. Can I bring my pet?
    1. We love your pets, which is why they are not allowed. For the safety of pets and all participants, please leave your pets at home. Service animals are allowed, but please bring required paperwork for proof.

 

  1. What happens if there is bad weather?
    1. Festival organizers and the fire marshal are watching the weather conditions closely. If high winds or rain is expected, the event may be postponed.
    2. Because Lantern events are subject to natural conditions and potential danger of fire, the Desert Lantern Festival may be canceled due to weather conditions including wind, rain, or drought situations.

 

  1. Can I get a refund?
    1. Due to the nature of the outdoor event, all tickets and fees are non-refundable and all sales are final.

 

  1. I lost something! Where do I go to pick it up?
    1. All lost and found items will be turned in to the Merchandise tent. If you already left the venue, you can email Bailey at Norton.bailey@yahoo.com for help finding your missing object(s)!
