Sofia Richie Stepping Back From 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' to Pursue Acting Career

February 7, 2020

Episodes of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” will no longer include Sofia Richie.

Scott Disick’s 21-year-old girlfriend told Entertainment Tonight that she’s taking a step back from the reality show in order to focus on her acting career instead.

“I want to get into acting,” Richie told the publication when asked about the series.

“I feel like, for a while, I kind of held back on things because I was afraid of failure, but 2020 is [the year of] no fear. I’m gonna be doing acting stuff really soon,” she added.

She revealed that she hopes her acting career will allow her to forge her own path outside of shadows of father Lionel Richie and sister Nicole Richie.

“It’s always been my thing, kinda growing up, I kind of felt like I was stuck in everyone’s shadow. But I’m very different from both my sister and my dad, so I feel like I’ve kinda navigated into my lane, and it’s been great for me,” she explained.

Despite dating Disick since 2017, Richie just made her debut on the E! Series in October 2019.

Reports that she’s leaving the show came shortly after fans realized Richie unfollowed Disick’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his three children, Kourtney Kardashian, according to Elle.

Richie isn’t the first to express her desire to leave “KUWTK” as Kourtney previously stirred up controversy when she said she was taking a step back from the series to focus on her family and three kids.

“I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there,” the 40-year-old said.

She even admitted that she wouldn’t mind if E! pulled the plug on the series.

This led to a family feud between the sisters as Kim Kardashian West and Khloe Kardashian didn’t feel like Kourtney was pulling her weight despite being locked into the same contract.
