Otter finds love through online dating site made just for him

October 6, 2020

This is a whole otter kind of love.

Harris, a 10-year-old otter in England, recently lost his wife Apricot after she died at the age of 16, per CNN.

The now-single otter was alone without any lover for the first time in almost five years, and eventually went back to his bachelor ways.

So, the team at the animal sanctuary decided to set up a fake dating profile and titled it "Fishing for Love," hoping that he would be able to find a new partner in crime.

"I am very attentive, I love a cuddle, and I am a very good listener, I will love you like no otter," the dating profile said.

"He was a doting partner to Apricot, so when she passed away a few weeks back he was absolutely lost," Tamara Cooper, a staff member at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary said.

Since otters naturally live with pairs in the wild, the sanctuary staff believed he deserved another chance at finding love.

That's where Pumpkin comes in. Pumpkin is an otter at Sea Life Scarborough sanctuary and had recently lost her "husband" Eric.

"Pumpkin has been extremely lonely so we are delighted that Harris will be coming to join her, and we hope his arrival will provide Pumpkin with comfort and companionship." said Todd German, a staff member at Sea Life Scarborough said.

Both teams are planning on introducing Harris into Pumpkin's habitat so that he will submit to the female more easily.
