Kelly Ripa, 50, reveals skin routine for her youthful glow

Kelly Ripa, who just turned 50 on October 2, is revealing her secrets to a youthful glow, all while maintaining her complexion and overall health.

In an interview with Prevention, Ripa revealed tips to get her lasting youth, most of which involve a healthy diet and great skincare. "Ten years ago, I was washing my face with soap and water - the harshest soap possible and the hottest water possible," Ripa explains.

Now, she's making an effort to be kinder to her skin. "And now it's really about making up for all of that by being gentle with my skin and prepping it before I put makeup on," she said.

So how does she do it?

It all starts off with a good dry brushing, which is a fancy term for using a soft, bristled brush to give your body a good once-over. "Your skin is such a huge organ," she said. "I do a good vigorous brush of my entire body I brush up towards my heart and down towards my arms."

She then moves on to a facial massage, which she completes using a jade face roller, two rose quartz face rollers, and her Jillian Dempsey Gold Sculpting Bar. All of which have been sitting on ice before use.

"For me, it's all about skin prep!" Ripa said.

Ripa then applies a moisturizing face oil and a primer before applying her makeup. "I guess my anti-aging secret - this and Botox, if we're being honest," she explained.

There is one non-negotiable in her skincare routine, and that's sunscreen. It's important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. "I'm constantly on my daughter about wearing sunscreen. My boys do it automatically. My daughter just wants to have a good time," Ripa joked.

In terms of her end-of-the-day routine, the one step she never forgets is taking her makeup off before she goes to bed. "As soon as I'm done with work - sometimes the credits are rolling - I'm taking my makeup off," she said. "I really believe if I didn't work on camera, I would never wear makeup. I do my best to let my skin breathe and leave it alone."

When she's not focusing on her skincare, Ripa is making sure she sticks to her "very clean diet."

"The older I get, the more I realize that it was the nutritional aspect. My trainer and all of the nutritionists we've had on 'Live With Kelly and Ryan' over the years, they've all said it's 80% nutrition, 20% fitness," she explained.
