All weekend long KOOL is giving away tickets to Neil Sedaka‘s just added second show at Wild Horse Pass on February 12. I met Neil Sedaka in August of 1975 at a show at Six Flags Over Texas. I was living in Dallas at the time and working at a station there, along with Ed Busch who had one of the best talk shows around. A couple of weeks before the Six Flags show, Ed spoke with Neil by phone. The Captain and Tennille had just hit with Neil‘s song Love Will Keep Us Together, and Neil Sedaka‘s records were back on the charts again. . Here’s the interview from July 31, 1975, that shows what a gracious artist he is.

The President’s “Duet” With Al Green On ‘Let’s Stay Together’

When President Barack Obama stopped by New York’s Apollo Theater last week for a fundraiser, he had a little fun and went acapella when he saw Al Green in the audience,breaking into a couple of lines from the Reverend’s 1972 hit “Let’s Stay Together.” In the time since then, Al Green‘s original track has sold over 16,000 downloads – in increase of 490%! one’s surprise in the last seven days, sales of “Let’s Stay Together” increased by 490%! I wonder how many it would sell as a duet.

The amazing thing about the President’s brief performance of the song, is the fact he was dead on pitch with Al‘s version. Which enabled me to put this short clip together with President Obama singing the first two lines (Iiiiiii – I’m so in love with you), and Al Green‘s original vocal on the remaining two lines of the sample whatever you want to do – is alright with me). Too bad the Prez didn’t give us more. He can sing.

As You’ve probably heard, Demi Moore has been placed in a rehab facility for exhaustion. Last November Demi announced she was ending her 7 year marriage to Ashton Kutcher following news of his alleged wandering eye. According to TMZ, paramedics on the scene were told by her friends that she was doing whip-its. Don’t know what that is and if I did, I still wouldn’t want to spread any word about it. like the old song says, “when will they ever learn...”

Whether you fell in love with Queen‘s “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the 70′s…or when you first saw “Wayne’s World” in the 90′s, the song is HIGHLY addictive! I haven’t met one person who doesn’t sing along to at least some of it. But, is it possible to sing along to ALL of it? Can one person sing every single part? YES! His name is Richie Castellano. But wait, there’s more! Not only does he sing EVERY part, he plays ALL the instruments. Whoa.

The Return Of Ferris Bueller?

It still pains me to think it’s been 26 YEARS since “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” hit theatres. Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da…life goes on! But, I digress. Rumors have been floating around for the last dozen or so years that a sequel is in the works. Have you seen the new commercials featuring Matthew Broderick as Ferris? Very intriguing!

Cher Is NOT Dead!

Hey Twitterverse, you got it wrong AGAIN. Last night, “RIP Cher” was trending bigtime on Twitter. This is because some nutjob thought it would be funny to misquote CNN.

Cher In ConcreteI’m here to tell you, CHER IS ALIVE! Did you fall for it?

The nutjob in question is known as @Lorraine_Star. Her tweet read, “RT @CNN: American recording artist Cher dies at 65 years old. Found dead in Malibu home.” Obviously, it was NOT a retweet. CNN never said this. But, once it’s on Twitter…IT MUST BE TRUE!

Kim Kardashian (who has a lot of time on her hands since the “marriage” fell apart) saw this and tweeted, “Did I juist hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? OMG, I hope this is a twitter joke and not true. I don’t see it on the news anywhere. I’m praying its not true…”

Since when has reality been a priority for Kim?

Cher…we love you! Glad you’re not pushin’ daisies.
