Parents may want to consider how often they encourage their children.
A new study from Ohio State University finds that kids who receive too much praise from their parents could grow up to struggle with issues like narcissism or over-inflated egos.
Researchers asked a group of parents to fill out questionnaires about their child’s behavior every six months between the ages of seven and eleven. The results found that overvaluing a child is the largest factor in children who develop narcissistic behaviors.
At the same time, those children who end up with narcissistic qualities don’t necessarily have healthy self-esteem.
