1965 – Bob Dylan began recording his ‘Bringing It All Back’ album at Columbia’s studio A in New York.  The first day yielded completed masters of ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’ and ‘It’s All Over Now Baby Blue’.

1967 – Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr went to the Bag O’Nails club in London to catch a show by the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

1968 – Johnny Cash played a show in front of 2,ooo inmates at Folsom Prison near Sacramento, California.  The concert was recorded and released that summer peaking out at #13 on the pop album chart – becoming his biggest album at the time.

1969 – Elvis Presley began a ten day recording session at American Studios in Memphis, marking the first time Elvis had recorded in Memphis since his last recording sessions for Sun records in 1969.  During the sessions, he recorded his last #1 hit ‘Suspicious Minds’

1979 – Singer Donny Hathaway who frequently teamed with Roberta Flack (‘Where Is The Love’) committed suicide by jumping from a 15th floor hotel window in New York.  He was 33 years old.

2003 – Diana Ross appeared in a Tucson courtroom charged with driving while twice over the drunk driving limit.  Local police reported she could not walk a straight line, touch her nose, or count to 30 after she had been stopped for swerving across the road.

1978 – With a budged of only $2200 American dollars which was borrowed from drummer Stewart copeland’s brother Miles, The Police recorded started recording their debut album at Surrey sound studios in Surrey, England. The album, titled ‘Outlandos d’Amour’ was a hit in America, and spawned the group’s first top 40 hit on the Billboard hot 100, ‘Roxanne’.
