John Mellancamp’s discography is about to get the box set treatment with the release of John Mellencamp 1978-2012 on December 10th through Universal Music Enterprises.

The comprehensive boxed set collection will feature nineteen CDs released by Mellencamp from his 35 year career, including American Fool, Lonesome Jubilee, Scarecrow, Cuttin’ Heads, Life, Death, Love and Freedom and No Better Than This.

Fans can listen to over 200 tracks, including “R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A.,” “Pink Houses,” “Paper in Fire” and “Our Country.” There are also bonus tracks taken from the re-mastered versions of his albums, which were originally released in 2005 via Mercury Records.

For over three decades, the artist once known as “John Cougar” has proven to be one of the best-selling artists in rock, with thirteen of the albums featured in John Mellencamp 1978-2012 either certified gold (for sales of 500,000) or platinum (for sales of 1,000,0000).

The collection also includes the original soundtrack album to Mellencamp’s first movie, Falling From Grace (1992). Written by Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Larry McMurty, the film marked the Indiana native’s acting and directing debut. The soundtrack, which has been long out-of-print until now, includes music from Dwight Yoakam, Nanci Griffith, Joe Ely, James McMurtry and John Prine.

The GRAMMY Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee holds the record for the most tracks by a solo artist to hit the top position on Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart and has sold more than 40 million records worldwide.
