Pink Floyd And The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard Of Oz in 3-D opened nationwide today for a one week engagement before it’s release on home video.  Here in the valley, you can catch its limited rn at AMC Desert Ridge and Westgate.

Yesterday I wrote about the hanging munchkin story that has been floating around since the film was released in 1939.  Today, I’m diving into the Pink Floyd connection to the film.

According to some hard core fans of the group (VERY hard core), when ‘Dark Side of The moon’ is played while watching ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ with the sound of the movie turned off, starting exactly when the MGM lion roars the third time during the movie opening, the album is somehow synched with the scenes in the film.

I’m not buying it –  even after watching this clip of the movie synched with the Pink Floyd soundtrack.

What’s your take on it?

As to whether any members of Pink Floyd ever played their album along side of the film, drummer Nick Mason had this to say.
