Twinkies Tale – By the Numbers

Today was the day Twinkies were to have their nationwide rollout, but Friday Wal-Mart jumped the gun and started selling their supply.  When grand daughter Alyssa and I went shopping Saturday morning, there was a big display near the check out out stands so no one could miss their return.

We didn’t buy any (it’s not her favorite) but I did come up some interesting numbers about the snack that makes it’s nationwide return today.

$410 million – amount paid for Twinkies and other Hostess brands

7-10 days – average time Twinkies are on store shelves

25 days – shelf life of Twinkie in 2012

45 days – shelf life of Twinkie in 2013

38.6 grams – weight of a single Twinkie

135 calories – per Twinkie
