Cars Land. 35 years. No waiting.

I can remember going on vacation each year with my Mom and Dad to Florida.  We lived in a small town called Sussex, Wisconsin.

Each year, we would drive down to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and some years to Ft. Meyers, Florida/Captiva Island.  I would spend all of the 2 day drive down there in the back seat with my boom box and headphones listening to music.  Cassettes I would make with my favorite songs, or tapes I bought from the store.

Back then, I would buy the album, and them record it to a tape and bring it all with me.

One of my favorite groups, and still to this day are The Cars.  I love Rick Ocaseks’ vocals, and the keyboards.  The songs were fun, the group rocked!

Soon, I had all of their work, but when they released their first album “The Cars”, I was hooked.  A fan from the beginning!

Today marks the 35th anniversary of The Cars self-titled debut album. ‘Good Times Roll’, ‘Just What I Needed’, ‘My Best Friends Girl’, ‘You’re All I’ve Got Tonight’, and who can forget ‘Moving In Stereo’…later made famous in Fast Times At Ridgemont High scene with Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool.

Yeah that one.

A toast to The Cars.  Thanks for making great music that will last forever in my collection!
