I may be a bit partial to this one because I am from Wisconsin, but I think you may agree with me on this one.

I grew up in a small town outside of Milwaukee called Sussex.  It was in the 70’s and going to a Packer game was a real treat.  Now because I lived near Milwaukee, my Dad would take me to the Packer games that were played at County Stadium, home of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club.

Back in those days, the Packers played half of their home games in Milwaukee County Stadium, and the other half in Green Bay.  I was lucky!  I don’t remember the Packers being that great of a team when I was a kid.

Bart Starr was the COACH, and there were only glimmers of winning, but still we went and cheered them on.  LOYAL to the CORE.  We were PACKER BACKERS! I think if I get a cut I will bleed green and gold first before it turns red!

I was not around for the Vince Lombardi days.  But I sure heard a lot about them.  We were coached that way in school.  His name was as common in our locker rooms as anything else.  A tough coach.  An understanding coach.  A “push you to the limit to get the best from you” coach.  A life coach.

A lot of his quotes and speeches are so true today.  I still go back to his thoughts and ideas and use them in my life.  Today is the birthday of a great coach, but more importantly, a great man.  Vince Lombardi.

“Winning is not a sometime thing…it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while…you don’t do the right thing once in a while…you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit.” – Vince Lombardi
