Lou Adler has had a long and enviable career in the music business over the past few decades, having worked with a laundry list of artists including Jan and Dean, the Mamas and the Papas, Carole King, Cheech and Chong, Spirit, the Grassroots and many others. And this month, Adler is being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the “non-performer” category.

“It feels pretty good,” he told K-EARTH hosts Gary & Lisa. “It gives me an answer to that question ‘Why aren’t you in the Hall of Fame?'”

Because of his long history with the comedy duo Cheech and Chong, the stoner legends will be on tap to say a few words about his career at the induction ceremony.

“Be careful what you wish for, Cheech and Chong are going to induct me,” he laughed. “I hear Carole King will perform for me.”

Along with Lou being inducted into The Hall of Fame this year, another notable music producer will be inducted as well. Lou talks about being included along with the great Quincy Jones at this year’s ceremony.

“I’m thrilled that it happened, but Quincy should have been in (already),” said Lou. “It’s amazing that he’s not but I’m thrilled that it’s with me.”

In addition to becoming a Hall of Famer, Lou is currently working on a “family reunion” project of sorts with none other than Cheech and Chong that’s coming to a theater near you.

Aptly titled Cheech And Chong’s Animated Movie, this film will feature some of the duo’s classic comedy bits along with the memorable music from their GRAMMY-winning albums. The movie will hit theaters on April 18 and be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 23.

The 28th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, and it will air on HBO on Saturday May 18 at 9 pm ET. Click here to see the full list of this year’s inductees. And follow Radio.com on Twitter for updates from the ceremony all night long.
