Oscar Night’s Big Winners

Hollywood’s biggest stars packed the Dolby Theatre last night to celebrate the best in film this year.

Although he was snubbed by the Academy in the Best Director category, Ben Affleck did not go home empty-handed. His critically acclaimed ‘Argo’ took home the award for Best Picture! The film was up against eight other huge movies, including Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln and Les Miserables.

But Affleck wasn’t the only one to win big! Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for her role as Tiffany in “Silver Linings Playbook.” The second time must be a charm – she was nominated two years ago for Winter’s Bone but lost out to Natalie Portman.

Perhaps the tallest winner of the night was Daniel Day-Lewis, who was named Best Actor for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in ‘Lincoln.’ He not only won one of the biggest awards of the night but also made history! He is the first person to win the Best Actor Oscar three times. He won the award two others times – once in 1990 for “My Left Foot” and another in 2008 for “There Will Be Blood”.

Other big winners include Adele for Best Original Song and Ang Lee as Best director for “Life of Pi.”
