September 11, 1952 – Ray Charles made his first recordings for Atlantic Records.

September 11, 1962 – The Beatles returned for the third time to EMI studios on abbey Road to record their first single ‘Love Me do’ b/w ‘P.S. I Love You’.

September 11, 1967 – The Beatles began filming ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ with no script, no clear idea of what was to be accomplished, and no clear direction of where the bus was supposed to go.  No wonder the film was such a mess!

September 11, 1971 – Donny Osmond began a three week run atop the Billboard Hot 100 with his version of ‘Go Away Little Girl’.

September 11, 1971 – The Jackson Five animated tv series premiered.

September 11, 1977 – A month before his death Bing Crosby, in what has to be one of the oddest pairings of all time, teamed up with David Bowie to record the medley ‘The Little Drummer Boy-Peace On Earth’ for Bing’s final Christmas special.  The song became a top 5 hit in the UK five years later.
