Dog Of The Week

It’s another sad story about a dog in need.  This one has a happy ending thanks to a selfless Park Ranger with a soft spot for our four legged friends.  Here’s Copper’s story….

copper Dog Of The WeekWith a badly injured back leg, Copper was barely able to keep his head afloat after slipping in a canal. Thankfully a Park Ranger noticed the desperate Labrador mix and pulled him out of the water. EAMTs were summoned to the scene and moments later Copper was on his way to the Arizona Humane Society’s trauma center where the vets decided that his badly injured leg would have to be amputated.

Having made a wonderful recovery, the 2-year-old now shows his gratitude with gentle kisses and a sweet smile. He is extremely laid back and easygoing and he’s never in a hurry to do anything- besides eat his dinner. His pace has slowed down a bit (with only three legs) but he still loves to go for a morning stroll and he walks perfectly on a leash (even an elderly person or a young child could walk him). Although he seems to know the basic commands, he has trouble performing tricks like “sit” and “down” due to his injuries. However, since he rarely misbehaves (besides shredding his squeaky toy every now and then) he hopes to find an owner who will appreciate a charming dog that quietly stands by their side instead of sitting- at least until he becomes more comfortable being a tri-pod.

Copper is great around other mellow dogs and children but he had no idea what a cat is so introduce him slowly. He is available NOW at the Sunnyslope facility located at 9226 N 13th Avenue in Phoenix and his adoption fee is only $35. This fee includes his neuter and amputation surgery and vaccines.
