Glee Girls Just Want To Have Fun?

While I am not a “Gleek,” I have to give Glee some credit.  On last night’s show, they did something I’ve NEVER heard before.  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cyndi Lauper[/lastfm]’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” was sung as a ballad.  And, it was performed by Finn…a BOY!  It actually took me a minute to realize what song it was.  VERY different.  VERY creative.

Wow! I’m a huge fan of the Cyn and this is such an homage. Thanks for posting Jeffro!

  2. The Glee version was exactly the same as Greg Laswell’s cover, which has been featured in several movies. Doesn’t make it any less awesome, but it would’ve been nice if they gave some credit.

  3. Jen says:

Oh, you mean the cover by San Diego musician Greg Laswell that they completely ripped off? He’s been performing it that way for years! Nice, Glee.

  4. Kathryn Buckley says:

LIsten to the My Sister’s Keeper soundtrack. This was already done as a ballad by Greg Laswell.

This is just a rip-off of Greg Laswell’s cover. see:

It’s not a freaking rip-off, it’s a COVER. That’s what the show is all about. What the hell is wrong with you people?

    1. Maggie says:

It is a rip-off. They gave Greg Laswell NO credit and yet the version they performed was note -for-note the same as Greg’s. This was not an inventive cover of Lauper’s song on the part of Glee. It was a cheap imitation of a cover that had already been recorded.

  7. WOW! I had never heard of Greg Laswell until reading your comments. Thanks for the investigating! Shame on you, Glee 😦

You’re ALL wrong. Robert Hazard did the original. A MALE. But who cares? The point of it was to sing a song to a girl who was embittered and needed the positiveness of the song. You people are ridiculous. Covers can be just like the original. Look up the definition.
