It all seems so civilized, doesn’t it?  When Downtown hit the charts in 1964, we’d never heard anything that sounded like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Petula Clark[/lastfm]. She became one of the the biggest selling female singers throughout the rest of the decade, and “Downtown” was the song that started it off.  A few years ago, we caught up with her during her run in Sunset Boulevard on Broadway in New York, and she told us the story. it’s a turntable Tuesday hit you’ll heat at 6:35.
