Work to complete the High Occupancy Vehicle lane improvement projects will require closures and lane restrictions on Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway in the north Phoenix area and Interstate 10 in Chandler this weekend (Aug. 26-29). Weekend work will, at times, affect I-10 traffic going toward Tucson. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes if possible while the following restrictions are in place.
Westbound Loop 101 closed between Cave Creek Road and 35th Avenue in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for HOV lane project. DETOUR: Traffic will exit at Cave Creek Road and use Beardsley frontage road to access Loop 101 at 35th Avenue.
Southbound Loop 101 closed between Glendale Avenue and I-10 from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for HOV lane project. DETOUR: Traffic will exit at Glendale Avenue and use 99th or 91st avenues south to access Loop 101. Eastbound I-10 (toward Tucson) narrowed to one lane between Elliot and Warner roads from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (Aug. 27); AND narrowed to two lanes between Warner Road and Chandler Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 28) for overhead sign work. Ramps onto eastbound I-10 from Elliot, Warner and Ray roads also closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Traffic can use westbound U.S. 60 to southbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 in the Tempe/Chandler area.
Eastbound I-10 ramps to Loop 202/Pecos Road in Chandler closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for overhead sign work. DETOUR: Traffic can use eastbound I-10 to Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, and turn around. Traffic can also use westbound Ray Road or Chandler Boulevard to 40th Street to access Pecos Road in Ahwatukee; or use eastbound Ray Road or Chandler Boulevard to Kyrene Boulevard to access Loop 202.
Northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for rubberized asphalt paving. DETOUR: Traffic can exit at Union Hills Drive and go westbound to 35th Avenue to access Loop 101.
Northbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Bell Road closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) for paving and striping. DETOUR: Traffic can exit at Thunderbird Road or Union Hills Drive and use 83rd Avenue to access Bell Road.
