grilling BBQ Rules. Yes Webber, There ARE Rules!

The Memorial Day weekend is here and that means that there will be more BBQ grills fired up than usual in the Valley of the sun.

Are you all ready for your Memorial Day barbecue? Do you have your utensils, your meats, your sides? How about the drinks? Radio tuned to 94.5 KOOL-FM?

Are you well-versed in the rules of grilling? Yes. There are rules.

You can’t just throw some meat over a fire and expect to have a great barbecue. You need to follow the rules.

• No drama allowed at the barbecue. There is to be no fighting, arguing or tension at the party.

• Know your grill. Understand what your particular grill does best and go with it.

• Drink beer.

• Serve a meat-only menu. Leave the vegetables off the grill.

• If you need to grill something other than meat, try grilling a pizza. That’s right. Grill a pizza.

• Play music loud.

• You’re the grill-master, so you need your own motto. Something like, “Fat equals flavor.”

• Don’t let other guys tell you how to grill. It’s your grill and your house, so shut them up.

• Eat your mistakes. If a piece of meat falls apart or burns, don’t throw it out. Turn it into something else like great nachos.

• Don’t flip your meat too often. You don’t need to flip burgers and steaks too often. Let it cook and when the time seems right, gently flip it.

• Pace yourself. There’s no need to cook all of your meat at once. A barbecue is an all-day event. Spread it out and make it last all day.

These are good tips, but I really want you to post the 12 steps from your listener this morning. The one who gave his wife the evening off from cooking.

Ok Sharon, here ya go. But remember…I don’t endorse this set of rules. But, they are pretty damn funny!
