Money Magazine August Front 01 Get to Gilbert ASAP!Sorry Peoria, I hate to do this to you.  But, I’m moving to Gilbert.  Money Magazine has ranked it among the Top 100 places to live in the US!  I’ll tell you how high it ranked (you’ll be surprised), why, and how many OTHER cities in Arizona made the list when you click more…

#36!  That’s right.  According to Money Magazine, there are only 35 other cities in the US where it’s better to live than Gilbert!  Here’s what the article says:

Top 100 rank: 36
Population: 216,000
Whether grabbing something to eat at the famed Joe’s Real BBQ restaurant, shopping in the Downtown Heritage District, or hitting the greens at the Trilogy Golf Club, residents of Gilbert are never at a loss for things to do.

This safe city a half-hour outside Phoenix celebrates the anniversary of the paving of Gilbert Road each year during Gilbert Days, a three-day event that includes a rodeo, a parade and a carnival.

The housing market was hit here hard, though, and it has yet to recover.

Only ONE other AZ city made the list.  That would be Scottsdale.  It was a bit further down, though.

Top 100 rank: 71
Population: 235,000
Known for its zillions of golf courses (it’s a stop on the PGA tour), upscale shopping, top-notch restaurants, and resort spas, Scottsdale has a lot to offer visitors and residents alike. Its hot, dry climate and proximity to the Sonoran Desert and McDowell Mountains make for terrific hiking; aging snowbirds flock here each winter. And its proximity to Phoenix means plenty of culture and a variety of jobs.

Unfortunately, the real-estate bust hit Scottsdale hard; home prices have plunged, and foreclosures are a major problem.

2 cities may seem like small potatoes.  But, remember, last year…NO cities made the list!  However, in 2008, Gilbert (28), Chandler (30), Scottsdale (47) and Peoria (55) ALL made it.  So, we’re making a comeback!
