Over a 5 week period votes were taken from BBC2 viewers and listeners, and the winner is……

Told you it was a shocker.  My vote would have been [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm] for best pop band and [lastfm]The Rolling Stones[/lastfm] for best rock and roll band.  [lastfm]Led Zepplin[/lastfm] was good, but didn’t come close to changing music like the [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] and Stones.  If I could only choose one band the nod would have to go to [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm].  Though I thoroughly disagree with the BBC listener’s final choice, it is a great conversation starter.
